2022- A Record BREAKING year for Saving Lives
organ donors save 254 lives
Organ Donation
In 2022 137 families said yes to donation. 109 led to an organ(s) recovered for transplant. A record breaking 273 organs were transplanted leading to 254 lives saved. This is a 23% increase over last year and the most lives saved in CDT's 50 year history. Thank you to all of our donor heroes and their families who gave the gift of life.
tissue donors enhance over 40,000 lives
Tissue Donation
In 2022 651 families said yes to donation which yielded 553 recovered donors. Because one tissue donor can enhance the lives of up to 75 people through tissue grafts, we project that over 40,000 people will now benefit through healing, restored mobility and eyesight. These tissues are stored in tissue banks for up to 5 years. Every time tissue is used the donor's family receives notice that it was used to enhance someone's life.
A Community of Heroes
Amidst a continued pandemic, the need for donation was higher than ever. Despite unprecedented daily challenges, the hospitals and communities in New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts continued to meet the need by supporting donation more than ever. Together, we saved more lives through donation & transplant than any other year on record!
